چکیده

In several areas throughout the world, eggs of fictitious host insect, Corcyra cephalonica, are used to produce multiple natural enemies, such as Trichogramma species, which widely utilized for biological control lepidopterous pests on diverse crops in more than 30 nations. The purpose this study was determine efficacy RH-5849, a non-steroidal ecdysone mimic, gonadotrophic parameters rice moth, cephalonica. separated II instar larva received compound topically abdomen dorsum by means Hamilton micro syringe acetone. Five replicates (50 insect/replicate) were per each dosage. Similar insects without any treatment. mean number laid female moth worked out basis total ten females. dose-dependent way, sterility percentage enhanced while hatching decreased. indices shown be dose-dependent, according current data. It should not forgotten that percentages reversed effectuation tendency (egg viability).

Studies on zinc toxicity in the larvae of the rice moth, Corcyra cephalonica St.

Zinc salts fed at relatively high concentrations in the diet have been known to produce deleterious effects. Sutton & Nelson (1938) found that 1 % of zinc as carbonate impaired the growth and general health of rats. Smith & Larson (1946) were, however, the first to study extensively this phenomenon in rats. They established that this condition manifested itself in the following two distinct and...

The Complete Mitochondrial Genome of the Rice Moth, Corcyra cephalonica

The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of the rice moth, Corcyra cephalonica Stainton (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) was determined as a circular molecular of 15,273 bp in size. The mitogenome composition (37 genes) and gene order are the same as the other lepidopterans. Nucleotide composition of the C. cephalonica mitogenome is highly A+T biased (80.43%) like other insects. Twelve protein-co...

Insecticidal Effects of Peppermint and Black Pepper Essential Oils against Rice Weevil, Sitophilus oryzae L. and Rice Moth, Corcyra cephalonica (St.)

Background: The rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae and rice moth, Corcyra cephalonica are major and cosmopolitan insect. Adults of S. oryzae (male and female) and both larvae are insatiable feeders on a great variety of grains. Objective: This study was conducted to estimate the insecticidal effect of essential oils from peppermint, Mentha piperita L. and black pepper, Piper nigrum L. ag...

Effects of chitinase from Trichoderma viride on feeding, growth and biochemical parameters of the rice moth, Corcyra cephalonica Stainton

Investigations on the development of a biocontrol agent against the alarming stored food pest Corcyra cephalonica has witnessed noteworthy growth in current years from mainly physiological studies, to tackling fundamental queries concerning the underlying mode of action. Chitinase from Trichoderma viride, which has inauspicious effects on feeding behavior, development and biochemical parameters...

Comparative effects of a non-steroidal ecdysone agonist RH-5992 and 20-hydroxyecdysone in a lepidopteran cell line (IAL-PID2).

The non-steroidal ecdysone agonist, RH-5992, exhibits ecdysteroid activities in vivo as well as in vitro more effectively than 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E). Using the IAL-PID2 cells derived from imaginal wing discs of last larval instar of Plodia interpunctella, we investigated the action of RH-5992 in the control of cell growth. Its effects on the proliferative activity of IAL-PID2 cells, the indu...
